May-Aug. 1990 in Canada, supported by Canadian Federal Government with the Faculty Research Award , attended the International Canadianist Conference in Victoria and visited several research institutions, for instances, Economic Council of Canada, C.D. Howe Institute and University of Ottawa.
Aug.1991-Oct.1992 in U.S.A., awarded by the Harvard-Yenching Institute Fellowship, researched as a Visiting Scholar in Harvard University, participated the 7 th Annual Meeting of Chinese Economists Society from June 25-27 at Austin, Texas, and visited Department of Economics, University of Chicago, Institute for Economic Development, Boston University and Brandeis University.

Feb.1999-Aug.1999 in France, offered with a six-month fellowship under the EU-China Higher Education Cooperation Programme, researched in Université de Marne-la-vallée, took part in the “Symposium of the EU Enlargement to East Europe” in April 8-9 at Paris I and was chosen to attend the seminar of “Familiarization Programme-Current Topics on the European Integration” in May 17-21 aided by the European Parliament in Université Robert Schuman-Strasbourg III. During the six months, I visited Groupement de Rechches sur l'Administration Locale en Europe, Université de Paris X, Ministere de L'Economie des Finances et de L'Industirie, Department of Economics, Erasmus University at Rotterdam, Directorate-General II and Directorate-General XVI, European Commission at Brussel, Asia Research Centre at London School of Economics, and the European Policies Research Centre at University of Strathclyde.
Aug.1999-Aug.2000 in the U.S.A., with the financial support of the Ford Foundation, I have a second chance to do my studies in Harvard University. I happened to be a visitor at the Conference of American Economic Association at Boston in mid-December 1999.
