The Performance and Policies in China and Russia during and after the World Financial Crisis
Call for papers

The International Business School of Shaanxi Normal University (P. R. China), Institute for Industrial and Market Studies and Faculty of Economics at National Research University - Higher School of Economics (Russia), the Graduate School of Economics and Management of Ural Federal University (Russia) and the Center for Economic Development Research (CEDR) at Wuhan University (P.R.China) announce the call for papers for an international academic conference, with the theme of The Performance and Policies in China and Russia during and after the World Financial Crisis,which will be held during October 11-14, 2013 at International Business School of Shaanxi Normal University in Xi’an, P.R China.
The primary goal of the conference is to promote research activities in economics and finance researches and the related areas in China and Russia. The conference will provide an opportunity to share innovative research findings on the performance and policies during and after the world financial crisis in both countries, especially the current macroeconomic situation, advances in institutional change, economic transition, structural adjustment, technological upgrade and policy designs at the national and regional levels. We invite researchers to present their work based on the international benchmarking with the use of modern empirical research methodologies. In the meanwhile, we welcome the studies with a comparative perspective over time, between and within countries based on panel section or cross-section empirical data.
The sub-themes may include, but are not limited to the following:
1、 Evaluation of macroeconomic policy effectiveness during the world financial crisis
2. How to protect against financial risk and defend financial safety in transitional economies
3、 Innovation and upgrade of competitiveness
4、 Technological innovation and intellectual property protection
5、 Trade relation and trade complementarities between China and Russia
6、 Inequality of incomes and how to improve income distribution
7、 The transformations of the current pattern of economic development
8、 Disparities of regional development and the countermeasure
9、 Industrialization and urbanization in transitional and developing countries
10、Energy policy and the adjustment of energy structure
11、 A comparison of the policies of sustainable development in China and Russia
12. Human capital and enhancing of international competitiveness
13. WTO and transitional and developing economies
14. Financial development and economic growth: a regional profile
15. Private enterprises and family enterprises in China and Russia
16. International financial cooperation after the world financial crisis
The working language of the conference is English.
Important Dates
Deadline for submission of extended abstracts: 10th June 2013
Acceptance of submitted abstracts: 30th June 2013
Submission of final papers: 1st September 2013
The application should include the following information:
----- the title of the proposed paper,
----- an extended abstract accounting for 5000-7000 characters (about at least 3 pages),
----- personal contact details (full name, job title, institutional affiliation, current position, postal address, contact phone, fax, and e-mail address).
Abstracts should be in RTF, Microsoft Word or PDF formats, should include three to five key words and the JEL classification numbers, and indicate to which theme among above listed topics it is submitted.
There is no registration fee. Participants themselves should cover their own round-trip air tickets, international travel insurance and hotel rents. Free meals are provided during the conference by the Shaanxi Normal University. The Organizational committee provides help in arranging visas, hotel and local transportation to and from the Xi’ An Airport and the hotel.
The preliminary time schedule for the conference is as follows:
Oct. 10th, participants arrive in Xi’an
Oct. 11 -13th, a roundtable conference will be held
Oct. 14th, participants leave
